Date input element does not allow direct input

Steps to reproduce


Repro Steps:

Find a HTML5 date input field and attempt to type an address. Bonus: try inputting 1950 for the date using just keyboard/mouse.
For example,,js,output

Expected Results:

Expected: User should be able to type into the field.

    • This seems like a pretty significant issue to be unresolved for almost two years - maybe it has been moved elsewhere?

    • This is still a problem and MS are the only browser who haven’t resolved - on all others, the field can take direct entry from the keyboard.

      If it’s been moved, then please let us know MS and if not, then what’s the resolution please?

    • Would also like to see this fixed. This also prevents one from being able to select any date more than 100 years in the past or future. Complete oversight.

    • 2 years down the line and it seems Microsoft have simply decided to not support the date / time input type - clicking on them just refreshes the whole page… Oh well - another reason not to use Edge

    • Same Issue here. Pages containing a HTML5 Date Input field are more or less unusable. If you try to Input a Birthday and you are very old, you will scroll to death :;–)
      The Chrome-Browser solves this in a brilliant way.
