Steps to reproduce

URL:

Repro Steps:

  1. Create a xls file
  2. Keep the file open in excel
  3. go to this fiddle http://jsfiddle.net/9z8g82eu/ and in the file upload control select the same excel file.
  4. You can see that the file is not selected. The expected behaviour is the file has to be selected and the file name should be displayed in the input text box after the selection.

Expected Results:

  1. Create a xls file

    • This is issue has been marked as a duplicate, however there is no indication (that I can see) on which is is the “original” issue. And I could not find any other issue with the same symptoms.

      Several users in our company can reproduce this bug, I’d like to ensure proper tracking of its fix. Any news would be appreciated.

    • This has something to do with the way how Office applications are opening files.
      Some other apps also don’t have access to office files when they are opened in office.

    • This is basic functionality that is not working. I’m quite disappointed at Microsoft bug handling. You seem not to want to understand.

      One cannot select an open Excel file - you must close it beforehand.
