Steps to reproduce
Demo via http://codepen.io/geekcubed/pen/vNEprd - the “run me” button sets the src attribute of an image inside in the right rectangle to be the same as an img that is already on the page (in the left element).
- After the page has loaded and the GIF on the left has played to the end (will disappear), clicking the button generates no visual change. The src attribute is set, but the GIF shows the last-frame
- If you’re quick enough, clicking the button before the left image has finished, the right-hand image shows and animates from the same frame as the left (their playback is synchronised)
- After the page is loaded, clicking the button should cause the right-hand image to display and playback from the first frame of the GIF
- During playback of the left, clicking the button should cause the right-hand image to display and playback from the first frame of the GIF, independent of the left.
Adding an img elemen (or changing the src attribute of an existing element) where the src is an animated GIF, should cause the added/changed element to play the animated GIF from the first frame, and independent of any existing DOM elements with the same src attribute.
