Repro Steps:

A demonstration of the issue can be found at: http://sprymedia.co.uk/media/bugs/ie_detached_dom/ . This bug appears to be in IE7 - DC1 (haven’t tested < 7).

Expected Results:

The referenced element should not be destroyed as there is a Javascript reference to it, and in this case it is going to be used again. Without the reference it should be GC’ed.

The four other main browsers all exhibit the expected behaviour.
