IE11 bug affecting textbox value - input via IME then passed to and back from variable in oninput event

Steps to reproduce

Expected: suggestions with Chinese characters in IME candidate windows
Actual: no candidate window
Note: doesn’t repro in second textbox that doesn’t have script running

Keyboard layout: US
中文(台灣)
Input Method: Microsoft Bopomofo
Keyboard layout: HanYu Pinyin
Internet Explorer en-US 11.0.9600.17107
Firefox en-US 29.0.1

To reproduce the problem:
1. Create WebForm
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title></title>
<script type="text/javascript">
function Text1_input(text1) {
var s = text1.value;
//do something
text1.value = s;
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<input id="Text1" type="text" oninput="Text1_input(this);" />
</body>
</html>

2. Open WebForm in IE11
Set focus on textbox
Switch IME to 中文(台灣)
Input 中 by typing zhong1 Enter
Observe that textbox value is zhong1 instead of 中
Behavior is not as expected

3. Open WebForm in FireFox 29
Set focus to textbox
Switch IME to 中文(台灣)
Input 中 by typing zhong1 Enter
Observe that textbox value is 中
Behavior is as expected

Expected Results:

input via IME should work as expected
