Steps to reproduce

1. Go to gmail.com and log in.

  1. select a conversation by checking its box or hitting ‘x’
  2. hit ‘L’ or click the labels icon to open the labels submenu

Expected:

  • cursor is automatically placed in the label search/filter textbox
  • when I start typing, it searches/filters my labels

Actual:

  • cursor is not automatically placed in the label search/filter textbox
  • when I start typing, the text appears somewhere on the page (screenshot attached).  I’ve seen the text pop up in a couple different placestop-left, overlapping the last message on the screen, and after the last message on the screen… I can’t find a pattern.
  • labels are not searched/filtered

Note:
This appears to appear only the first time you attempt to access the label menu via shortcut after the page is loaded.  Subsequent attempts will behave properly.  To continue reproing, refresh the page.
