Expected Results:

When I selected the “Print” option while viewing an email message in outlook.com, I expected a window to open that contained the contents of the currently selected message. Instead, I was presented with an empty window. There was only a “Print” link in the top left, and a “Close” link in the top right. The rest of the frame was blank.

Very poorly done, Microsoft. Very. Poorly.

Actual Results:

Dev Channel specific:

    • I am having the same issue! Frustrating!

    • I have the same issue, cannot print a simple email when using outlook, I am typing this response out of frustration that Microsoft do not listen or fix this basic problem.

      Changed Steps to Reproduce

    • Exact same issue as reported above, only in Edge on Windows 10. Chrome and Firefox work flawlessly, as did IE when I was on Windows 8.1. As an aside, the performance of Outlook.com in general with Edge has been terrible. It constantly hangs, will not reload (Control-R or F5), and requires constant closing/opening just to read through my email and interact with other oulook.com components (calendar, One Drive, etc.)

    • Correction to the above; if I right click on the body of SOME emails and select Print, I do in fact get an accurate Print Preview screen and I am able to print out a partial rendering of an email. They are truncated on the right, I’m guessing because it appears to be more of a screenshot feature as I’m getting the whole hierarchical tree from the left pane as well. It’s better than nothing in a few cases, but certainly not a fix.

    • I am having the same issue. And I need to print emails for a court case and can’t. This is a major problem because I cannot copy and paste them into a Word doc. They have to be exact print outs of the email. This is ridiculous.

    • I have the same problem. I have had to switch to using Outlook via Safari in order to print emails.

    • To clarify, I was able to print Outlook.com emails using Microsoft Edge until about a month ago. I suspect it is the latest version of Windows 10 that has stopped print from working. I too get an empty print pane i.e. the body of the email is not present.

    • Like Nigel R. we have been having the same issues since the last Windows update and seeing how Outlook.com prints with other browsers one would suspect it’s an EDGE issue. Our symptoms are similar as none of the preprint views or print previews are loaded from Outlook In box the three dot e-mail drop down. I thought it might be HTML related but it appears it may be all. At least there’s a current group here, as I have been looking for a current Microsoft blog to complain about it.

    • Updates - I tried one of the failed to print e-mails from Outlook.com through Chrome and it has the normal preview and printer set ups and it appears to have printed correctly, so it is an EDGE problem now.

    • I sure wish Microsoft would fix this. The only way I can print a message is to close Edge. Open Firefox. Print message. Awkward. May as well just use Firefox from the beginning and skip using Edge.

    • Adding to my statements from 08/01/2016: Since running a series of Windows Updates last week, the behavior is different now. I didn’t pick any specific updates, I took the defaults. After rebooting I was successful printing out an email with no embedded content (i.e. HTML redirects) from Edge. Another email that has embedded content did not print out correctly with Edge. I didn’t have a chance to try it in another browser yet but I will.

    • I have been having this same problem for the last couple months. Has anyone found a solution to this other than using a different web browser like chrome or firefox?

    • I just checked, and we are still not printing. May be MS will repair it with their newest Windows 10 Creator update, as I suspect Edge will have some major changes I haven’t reviewed yet. I am seeing the need upgrade most my PCs that will need more video speeds and faster Wi-Fi capabilities to stay up with all the Edge 4HD graphics. It’s all my home network can do to download or stream on my newest built for 4HD PC with Windows 10 and Edge.

    • Having the same problem with Firefox 50.1. What’s really weird is I have one account that opens the print preview and prints successfully (in FF, Chrome and Edge). The account in question fails in all three browsers. There’s something inherent in the account settings itself that I cannot seem to find. Anyone figure this out?

    • Verified the same account in question will not print on a separate computer not attached to any of the client’s networked printers. This is definitely an account issue. Attempted to change print settings in account settings, but there are no options to do so.

    • Hello,

Thank you for providing this information about the issue. We have confirmed the problem, and we are working on a solution for a future build of Edge. We are presently tracking this issue as a duplicate of an existing internal bug report. We look forward to additional feedback you may have on how we can improve Microsoft Edge.

      Best Wishes,
      The MS Edge Team
