Steps to reproduce
- A precision trackpad
- an external mouse
- Windows 8.1
Then go to the following page ( https://jsfiddle.net/24z5xmkn/1/ ) and see and try to scroll on the bottom-right div: a red text should appear if the event is captured.
Try to connect the external mouse and try again on the same page to see the “mousewheel” text appear.
The “mousewheel” (or the “wheel”) event should be triggered.

This bug is still a problem in the latest build of Edge as of 4/6/2016. Every other browser fires the wheel event as expected. Please fix!
Thank you for providing this information about the issue. We didn’t emulate the mouse wheel with touchpad, so we did not plan to release a fix for this problem.
However, the latest jsfiddle sample no longer repros and appears to be fixed in Edge 15063.

James, are you sure you tried to repro on a precision trackpad (ex: on a Surface, or using the new on-screen touch-based trackpad in the Creator’s Update) and not a synaptics trackpad? This bug only applies to Edge/IE’s special handling of the 2-finger scroll gesture on precision trackpads. All other browsers work properly. All non-precision trackpads work properly.
