Changed Assigned To to “Kamen M.”

Changed Assigned To to “Sermet I.”

Changed Assigned To to “Manoj B.”

    • It appears that the first request is actually a HEAD request. Another microsoft forum suggests this first request is a DLNA request and that it is issued by the browser to determine the content type before handing off to the appropriate handler. This HEAD request causes an issue for our webserver which is simply returning a "501 not Implemented", the browser then displays an error message in place of the PDF : Couldn’t open PDF

Something’s keeping this PDF from opening.

One workaround appears to be to use the HTML5 tag instead of the an tag.

This doesn’t seem to suffer from the same behavior. This will work for us but it would be nice not to have a special browser specific check ;)…

    • I included an example embed element markup but it didn’t show up in my initial comment. I’ll try again with some markdown fences…

    • oh well that didn’t work either.

basically try using an embed tag instead of the object tag.

      Changed Status to “By design”

    • Is anything being done on this issue or not?

    • This is VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM for applications that returns PDFs.

Our application deletes immediately the PDF after returning it. Therefore, response of second request will be error.
      Then, Edge says:

      Couldn’t open PDF
Something’s keeping this PDF from opening.

      Something? No. It is you.
Now, we recommend to our customer not to use Edge.

      Please fix.

    • With same server pdf generator, the problem only appears in Edge. With Internet Explorer or Chrome it doesn’t happen. I’ve found no difference between first and second request. It simply requests the file twice. Because my server generate a unique ID for each pdf downloaded, Edge can’t be used to fulfill my needs. I’m waiting for a fix…

    • Hello,

Thank you for providing this information about the issue. Please test this behavior in our latest stable version 14393 or the latest insider build 15063.

      Best Wishes,

      The MS Edge Team

    • Hi James, thank you for reply.

I tested with 38.14393.0.0 and 40.15063.0.0 (included in Creators Update).
15063 is fixed, but 14393 is not fixed.

    • I’m working with some of our dev guys on a end user reported issue that sounds like this one. I am testing with 38.14393.0.0 and not seeing the issue myself. Can anyone else concur?

    • This is still broken… LOL this is why MS Browsers continue to lose market share. Fix Your S$%#
