Steps to reproduce

Result: Some message about java

Expected: A folder picker

This site is using browser detection. If a browser is not Chrome, it just assumes java. Needs outreach to promote proper feature detection.

    • Site bug. Likely due to browser detection. Edge doesn’t support Java and should be treated like other browsers that don’t support Java.

Changed Title from “Needs Outreach: box.com can't upload folder” to “box.com can't upload folder”

    • @Colleen W, some investigation from our side:

Things don’t seem to be working as intended, even on their developer docs here: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/platform/documentation/dev-guide/html5/folder-upload/

The demo they’ve provided does not work on Microsoft Edge, at least using Edge 25.10586.0.0 with EdgeHTML 13.10586 on a VirtualBox VM.

The assumption is that the DataTransfer object accessed in event.dataTransfer should be exposing the folders via event.dataTransfer.items, but the items field is empty.

    • please update to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update that shipped yesterday. Build 14393. That build contains the drag & drop feature and you should find the demo and documentation working with that build.
