    • Thanks for the feedback. We have removed all Windows XP-based VMs since XP is over 2 years out of Microsoft support. Please consider other testing options like Browserstack which still provide options for XP.

    • Browserstack does not offer the same troubleshooting capabilities as a VM. I have something that I need to track down on IE8, and it looks like I’m out of luck as far as modern.ie is concerned.

In any event, please update your website to reflect this. In several places on the site, it says:

Test Microsoft Edge and versions of IE6 through IE11 using free virtual machines you download and manage locally.

    • You can still download the virtual machines directly using the following URL template:

      https://az412801.vo.msecnd.net/vhd/VMBuild_20141027/{{ platform }}/IE8/{{ host_os }}/IE8.XP.For.{{ host_os }}.{{ platform }}.zip

Replace {{ platform }} with something like: Parallels, VMWare, VirtualBox, VPC, HyperV, Vagrant, etc
Replace {{ host_os }} with Mac or Windows.

Example 1: IE8 Windows XP for Parallels on Mac:
      https://az412801.vo.msecnd.net/vhd/VMBuild_20141027/Parallels/IE8/Mac/IE8.XP.For.Mac.Parallels.zip

Example 2: IE Windows XP for Virtual PC on Windows:
      https://az412801.vo.msecnd.net/vhd/VMBuild_20141027/VPC/IE8/Windows/IE8.XP.For.Windows.VPC.zip

    • @Mike S. is right (thanks Mike :), however instead of “VMWare” you need to substitute “VMware” in order to get the working link. Example:

      https://az412801.vo.msecnd.net/vhd/VMBuild_20141027/VMware/IE8/Windows/IE8.XP.For.Windows.VMware.zip

    • I cannot download from the links above. There are any other valid?
