Page reload redirect when switching back to Edge application

Steps to reproduce

  1. Click on Skype for business/Lync meeting invite/link from Calender
  2. Opens edge browser first then takes the user to Skype for Business/Lync app
  3. Finish and close your meeting
  4. Switch back to Edge app
    Expected behavior: The page should not reload/refresh when switching back to Edge app.
    Current behavior: The page reloads/refreshes, the user is again taken to Skype for Business/Lync app. This runs in loop.
    This is also true for regular pages where it refreshes when user switches back to edge app, this make the page loose page location history and user has to scroll back to the location again. It’s one of the biggest pain of the browser if user is switching between apps frequently.

    • Hello,

      Thanks for the feedback on Edge. When I try this out on a Lumia 640 it takes me to a page that asks if I have joined the meeting.  If I do reload the page from there it will redirect me to Skype / Lync but otherwise on first loadup it will stay there.

      May I ask what build you are running on this Mobile device? I am running insider fast so that may be why we are getting different results.

      I think when edge is activated from sleep state by switching app…it tries to pull latest content and in this case its a skype meeting url…which takes the user back to the skype meeting app.

    • While I do agree with your logic on that…I have not been able to repro the same.  Can you provide some details on the kind of meeting you are generating?  Is it from Outlook?

    • Would this behaviour also explain why edge seems to randomly reload pages? This happens a lot and as above, loses the location on the page.

    • I believe that behavior you are referring to is how Edge determines how to allocate background resources to different tabs.
