Steps to reproduce
Requirement: Access to SKY Test. Env. (will be provided on request)
- Open http://storm-tst3.sky.de/film/action/american-sniper/asset/filmsection/142127.html with the Edge Browser (25.10586.0.0) EdgeHTML (13.10586)
- Enter Apache Protection Login with user credentials.
Currently: A Blackscreen is show where the Video Element is embedded.
Excepted: Playback of the html5 video starts.
- The Embedded html5 video uses hasplayer.js for the PlayReady Implementation.
- Licence Aquisition seems to work.
- Opening the Development Tools seems to decrease the frequency of this Error.

Could you please provide us with the login information needed for the repro at your earliest convenience?
All the best,
The MS Edge Team
@Brad: To which Email Address can i send the Login Credentials?
Please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We did some more Testing with some other machines and
it seems to us that the error might be related to the underlying graphic card.
It seems to accure most frequently/consitently when a machines with an 'Intel HD Graphics 4600’.
(even with the latest driver) is used.
Also, having the Development Console open seems to reduce the failure frequency dramatically.
Looks like some kind of tracing/logging mechanism or just a slowdown of some process helps.
@Brad: I just got informed that their might be some regional restriction on the Login procedure from the US. If you encounter a problem with this, could you forward this issue to a collegue from MS Europe or try bypassing it by using a proxy? Sorry for the inconvenience.
Will do. Have not gotten around to testing yet, but will be my first priority on Monday morning.
After testing this in both Chrome and Edge I get a error message upon loading the page. This error message is the same in both browsers it reads:
"message": “skygoSessionId null”
After I dismiss this alert the video never starts playing (in either browser).
Afert you dismiss the alert you have to login via the Login “Button/Link” at the Top Right Corner (s. attachement) A drop down Menu will open in which you can enter the Login Credentials. After that you can start the Video via the PlayButton in the Video Element. Sorry. I had to disable the autostart. :)
No problem. I figured that something had been disabled for debugging.
@Brad: i updated the embeded Player the one actual one which seems to work fine in google-chrome but only works in Edge when we leave the Development Tools open.
(The FSK Pin is the Same as for the Login)
Could you confirm this behaviour on your side?
I continued testing and it seems that the Problem is related to the state of the Debugger.
Attached/connected => Success
Detached /disconnected => Failure
Looks like a kind timing Problem, since i assume the Debugger slows things down quite a bit.
I uploaded a Screencapture for better comparison.
Although the Video is not captured, i hope it helps to illustrate the Problem.
Our customer urgently need an answer/solution for this Problem.
If at al possible please provide feedback asap.
When I am testing this repro it says that I must register a new device or remove one form my account to continue. Do I have the access needed to do this?
It does repro in 10586, I can confirm that. But now I am testing builds that are newer in order to determine if this has been fixed or not.
Looking forward to your update.
you can reset the device list via the Options in the “Einstellungen” / Settings (see attached Images)

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like we need to work with the Sky team for further resolution. We’ll follow-up with them separately.
We are experiencing a similar issue with our HTML5 player and Edge with PlayReady.
Playback fails less often when the development console is open, but is not playing when the console is not used. Is there anything you guys can help us with regarding this issue?
