Steps to reproduce

We are using a web-based program for ICT helpdesk management. Ticket management is done via webforms. Whenever working in one of these webforms (any form in the webpage) the x-key on the keyboard stops working as expected, functioning like the TAB key instead of inserting letter X. On other webpages and webforms this problem does not occur and the x-key functions as expected.
Step1:
Open Edge Browser.
Step 2:
Go to TOPdesk ticket management page (intranet)
Step 3:
Open any webform, insert text. X key wont work and instead of inserting x, it will jump to the next field (as if TAB was pressed).

  • We are not able to access your intranet site. Is any way to provide a simplified html page where we could see this issue happening?

  • Exactly the same issue over here. I think OP refers to TOPdesk (www.topdesk.com), it’s the only web application that I use that has this behaviour. I have been looking through the support pages from TOPdesk to check if X is bound to any shortkey, but no shortkey is defined.

    Some things that I noticed:

    • It only happens in Edge (IE11 has no issue)
    • It happened after I changed Windows 10 language, region and interface from nl-NL to en-EN to activate Cortana
    • Every other website I use in Edge don’t show this behaviour

Also the auto-fill option in dropdown menu’s doesn’t work with TOPdesk.

Not sure if Edge is to “blame” here.

    Regards,
    Paul

  • Thank you for the feedback on Edge.

The bug has been fixed by TopDesk in version 5.7.

Updating to this version should resolve this issue for the users who have reported this.

Users can check the version they have by clicking on the TOPdesk menu button->Help->Information.

    All the best,
    The MS Edge Team
