Steps to reproduce
every time on sites it becomes non responsive for several seconds then works for couple mins the freezes again its getting aggravating to say the least

Ms. edge has been non responsive since anniversary update, it always requesting to recover pages
Continually happens. Seems to have been introduced with most recent update to Anniversary Edition Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3176495)
Most recent update has made many websites non-responsive. Particularly problematic for YouTube and Weather Channel. Extremely annoying.

I agree. This is really aggravating. I am running Windows 10 factory installed on a Surface Book, about 6 months old. It is exactly as Amber and Helene describe above. I tried one advanced user’s solution of deleting the file “Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_39.14915.1000.0_neutral__8wekyb3d8bbwe” and all of its children, and while this did clear all memorized items, sites, etc., it did not fix the problem. It would seem like a simple reinstall of edge would do it, but I don’t know how or where that can be accomplished. Someone from Microsoft needs to weigh in on this problem, and fast, or more and more customers will migrate to Firefox or Chrome.
Starting today on my HP Envy Notebook, which was purchased three months ago with Windows 10 pre-installed, the websites of the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, New York Times, Talking Points Memo, Huffington Post, Mother Jones and ESPN are failing to load properly and not responding. MS Edge then closes them out and tells me to try again later. The Washington Post website, when opened, causes the browser to freeze, and I have to use Task Manager to close it. I tried using MS Internet Explorer, and the same thing occurs. However, simple websites that aren’t running a lot of scripts load promptly. What gives here? Do I have to download Google Chrome? I don’t want to, but I will if this isn’t resolved.

I would say that bad web page cause Microsoft edge to freeze or run slow. in those case try emulation of other web browser by pressing f 12 it often will give you a good web page. this is issue with older web site using browser sniffing to give a web page. the truth of the matter is that many web site needs some work being update to html5 and good practice also error verification and solving.
solitaire time.com , Facebook, MSN and any other web page subject to freeze erratic operation extremely annoying .

Almost every web site I go to I get web page not responding, then it comes up. After new web page comes up you get the same error when trying to use that page. EX Fox New, Drudge. Even Microsoft web page.
Further when I cleared edge data my system froze up requiring me to manually power the system down for a resart.
Edge gives me an error message "website not responding". It doesn’t matter which website I am using, it does it on MSN, Fox, all of the sports boards I go to (6) and I even got one on this website. It has got to be Edge because I can go to my chrome browser and it works just fine. My computer is 3 months old and Edge was factory installed.
Also my problems seemed to start Saturday 4/8/17.
It’ really frustrating when you cant get an answer.
Same issue as Darwin S reported April 14, 2017, get Website not responding notification with button to "recover". Also started somewhere around the same date 4/8/17.
Please help! Very frustrating.
