Steps to reproduce

  1. Open https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/mac/
  2. Select Virtual Machine: IE11 on Win 81
  3. Select Platform: VMWare
  4. Click Download zip

This will download https://az412801.vo.msecnd.net/vhd/VMBuild_20141027/VMware/IE11/Windows/IE11.Win8.1.For.Windows.VMware.zip
Which is the windows version of the VMWare vm instead of the Mac version, which can be found here:
https://az412801.vo.msecnd.net/vhd/VMBuild_20141027/VMware/IE11/Mac/IE11.Win8.1.For.Mac.VMware.zip

I have also had this problem with other IE versions in the dropdown list, and I could not reverse engineer the mac link for the Edge versions :/.

Please fix!

    • The VMs are exactly the same for all platforms and you can download and use them without any problem. We are simplifying the amount of files we have and for older VMs we decided to keep the files we already had with Windows on it. For the newer ones we are not putting the host platform in the name anymore.

    • Thanks! I figured out how to import the VM’s into VMWare.
