Steps to reproduce

The IE 11 Menu Bar will not go away when trying to uncheck it. There is no way to get the menu bar to go away. This might’ve just happened with a recent update as it used to not behave this way. Im on 11.0.9600.18321

    • KB3154070
      OS BUILD - Windows 8 Build 9600
Automatic updates are set to install, so my machine should be up to date. This issue only started happening in the last few weeks so it was one of those updates…

    • Thank you for the update. Could you please check your Group Policy Settings (Start menu/Type “Group policy”) and then follow the path (Computer configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer) in Group Policy Editor and check the state of “Turn on menu bar by default” . If you see the status is enabled or disabled, please restore to “Not configured” see if that helps.

Another option you can reset your IE settings in internet option under Advanced tab. Or you can try clean boot and test your browser if this issue is configuration related.

Finally, if none of the above works, you can try uninstall/install IE, please visit the following link to see how to perform that

Please let us know about the process resolving your issue, we will be happy to assist you.

      All the best,
      The MS Edge Team
