Steps to reproduce

Using a US or Canadian English keyboard layout type french words containing accents.

Type in the accented letter using alt-codes for example (école) uses Alt-130 for the é.

Intermittently when you press <space> after the word your accent disappears. (école become ecole) Also words with an accented e followed by an e get auto corrected to a single e.

This is happening even with the windows 10 Autocorrect feature turned off.

Systems have been turned off and back on after disabling the windows autocorrect feature.

The problem is sporadic at best but happens enough to annoy the support staff, trying to help french clients using Edge.

This issue happens on machines with or without the French Canadian language pack being installed.

Tip: This might be happening if the french language word is perceived by the browser as being misspelled, potentially if they pause to long before completing the spelling of the word, but autocorrection should not be firing as the feature is off in Windows as a whole.

    • Hello,

Thanks for the feedback on Edge. I have not been able to repro this so far using later (insider) builds or public releases of Win 10.  Can you try out a Windows Insider build in your environment to determine if this still repros for you?

    • As we have not received further information on how to repro this item of feedback - we will resolve it as not repro. Should you have the details needed in order for us to reproduce this problem in our test environments please feel free to reactivate this issue at your earliest convenience.

      All the best,

    • I can’t insert accents directly using Edge. As a work around I type the words correctly in Word and copy and paste into Edge (for an on-line Italian course). This works for me, but is really clumsy.
