Steps to reproduce

The TextTrackCue interface is supported in IE10+ and Edge. However, this does not display 708 Captions (positioned closed captioned text) or HLS V4 subtitles with positioning information correctly. Implementing the VTTCue interface will solve this problem.

We would like to provide our users with a consistent experience regardless of device or browser when displaying CC/subtitle text. We would also like to be able to render captions natively in browsers that provide sufficient support. IE/Edge adding support for the VTTCue interface would be a huge win for FCC compliance.

    • The most serious problem is that subtitles do not wrap on to multiple lines, the first line just disappears off the edge of the video and can not be read. This works in IE 10+.

      Also, no style can be applied via css, e.g. color, background…
      ::cue(v[voice="Esme"]) { color: cyan }
      ::cue(v[voice="Mary"]) { color: lime }
      ::cue(i) { font-style: italic }
      ::cue(.loud) { font-size: 2em }

    • Hi, is there any estimate on when this will be fixed?
