Steps to reproduce

See this fixed-header scroll table. Works on all browsers but not Edge.
http://jsfiddle.net/doctorDestructo/gfbk73bp/

Edge does sort of handle this on TH elements, but has a weird animation effect compared to other browsers.

Changed Assigned To to “Bogdan B.”

Changed Assigned To from “Bogdan B.” to “Francois R.”

      Changed Status to “Confirmed”

    • Thanks for reporting this bug. This is because these elements are not supposed to be really present in the display tree (where layout happens) and should therefore not have a styling impact (other than inherited properties).

We are currently considering hoisting some features like transform and opacity, to make them work “as expected” anyway (in addition of “background” which we already support).

I’ve yet to open a Github Issue on the css spec for this, but the relevant text can be found there (as well as the special hoisting beavhior for “background”):

      https://drafts.csswg.org/css-tables-3/#global-style-overrides

I’ll self-assign this issue as a spec bug, and keep working on this to have a discussion on the topic around mid-September 2016 with other implementors.

    • FYI https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/324 is a similar issue we resolved recently, and we also resolved to look further at that class of issues at TPAC 2016, September 14-18 in Lisbon.

Changed Title from “javascript/CSS .style.transform does not work in Edge for thead element. Works in other browsers.” to “Transforms don't work in Edge for <thead>, do in other browsers”
