Steps to reproduce

We have created a SharePoint 2013 App Part. It uses a div with position: fixed to create a modal dialog effect. Within that element we use another div with position: fixed to create a drop-down / context menu effect. In IE11 and Edge, when the app part is embedded in a SharePoint page, the drop-down is not drawn in the correct location. This does not happen in FireFox and Chrome, and it does not happen when the app is opened full-page (i.e., not embedded in an iframe).

The attached video shows the behavior. Note that the mouse actions take effect in the correct location (hovering and dragging the scroll bar on the drop-down).

The attached zip file contains two HTML files that partially reproduce the issue. To see it, unzip and open “outer.html” in IE. Note that when the page is loaded (or reloaded) the drop-down is initially drawn in the wrong place (the same place as in the application) then pops over to the correct place a second later (this does not happen in the application).

  • Thanks for your feedback on Edge. We are not working on IE feature bugs any longer unless they are security related.  Also, I am not able to repro this when testing in Win 10 build 14393.187 in either Edge or IE.

We look forward to more feedback from you going forward.

    All the best,
    The MS Edge Team
