Steps to reproduce

  1. Open and log in.

  2. Scroll a little bit down 200-500px
(less than a screen, I can’t reproduce it when scrolled more than a screen)

  3. Click on Reply on tweet in timeline or Tweet to on timeline of other user.
(I wasn’t able to reproduce this when clicking on Reply in popout with recent tweet to me, probably scrolled down too much)

  4. Press Backspace or Delete button (hold for more noticeable effect)

Expected behavior: Should only result in removed text (if anything left)

Actual behavior: Text is removed and also page is scrolled up

Can reproduce on PC and Surface Pro 3
Microsoft Edge 39.14901.1000.0
Microsoft EdgeHTML 14.14901
Earlier versions were affected too.

Reproducible in
Internet Explorer 11
Version: 11.1000.14901.0
Update Version: 11.0.34 (KB3175443)

Also reproducible when I press Backspace on Screen Keyboard (on SP3)

Comments and activity

  • Reproduced.

    Win10 Anniversary on ThinkPad R500

  • Microsoft Edge 38.14393.0.0
    Microsoft EdgeHTML 14.14393

  • I can reproduce.

    Build 14901 Edge, HP G3 250 Notebook

  • I can reproduce it as well.
    Microsoft Edge 39.14901.1000.0
    Microsoft EdgeHTML 14.14901

  • I also repro, per the steps outlined above. After Pressing backspace, or delete, causes a scroll event to be fired. The page is scrolled up 1px.

This can be confirmed by opening the F12 Developer Tools’ console, and running the following before attempting the repro:

    document.addEventListener( "scroll", event => console.log( window.scrollY ) );
  • Can repro. SP3 and Microsoft Edge 39.14901.1000.0

  • Microsoft Edge Team

Changed Assigned To to “Ibrahim O.”

Changed Assigned To to “Amit J.”

    Changed Status to “Confirmed”

Changed Assigned To from “Amit J.” to “Amit J.”

  • Can repro on Edge 39.14905

  • I no longer repro this as of build 14905.

  • I [am] able to repro this on 14905. Further, a reduction has been added in the attachments.

  • I was able to reproduce this bug on build 14905. No extensions installed.

  • repro’s best with the fiddle repro, 14393.82, also on 14905.

  • Repro on Windows 10 Build 14905, Edge 39.14905

  • Reduction reproes on Edge 38.14393.0.0 / EdgeHTML 14.14393

  • I’m also able to reproduce issue using reduced case on W10 Mobile
    Microsoft Edge 39.14905.1000.0
    Microsoft EdgeHTML 14.14905

  • Still Repro’d in Edge 39.14915.1000

  • Microsoft Edge Team

    Changed Status from “Confirmed”

Changed Assigned To from “Amit J.” to “Grisha L.”

    Changed Status to “Confirmed”

Changed Status from “Confirmed” to “Not reproducible”

  • Doesn’t appear to reproduce on recent Windows Insider Preview builds. Please let me know if you continue to see this on recent builds. Thanks!

  • Scott L. - I cannot reproduce original issue anymore (looks like twitter redesign changed problematic behavior),
however it is still reproducible in reduced test case provided by Jonathan S.
(Tried fiddle in other browsers but only Edge is affected)

    Microsoft Edge 41.16257.1000.0
    Microsoft EdgeHTML 16.16257

Is it possible to update issue title so it won’t mention Twitter anymore, however underlying problem is still there

  • Interesting reduced case… I can repro there.

  • The status of this issue should be changed before it gets ignored forever.
