Steps to reproduce

When an auto-printing PDF is embedded in an IFRAME, Edge will attempt to print the parent page’s HTML, instead of the content of the PDF.

This behaviour is inconsistent with IE, Chrome & Firefox.

To reproduce the issue:

  1. Download the 2 attached files into the same location.
  2. Open auto-print.html in IE, Chrome or Firefox - you will see that a print dialog appears containing the PDF content.
  3. Open auto-print.html in Edge - you will see that the parent page HTML appears in the print dialog (incorrect).

FYI: An auto-printing PDF is a PDF file that contains a “named action” to automatically throw the Print dialog when the file is opened. Named action’s are supported in the PDF language, and by most PDF renderers.

  • Any updates on this issue? This behavior is there in IE and other browsers but not in Edge.
