Steps to reproduce

I believe this is a common issue but was prompted on this occasion to report the issue after seeing this:

I added a comment, went to close Edge, and lo and behold the issue appeared while I was on this site. I’ve attached a screen shot AND a very short video. I had a camera next to me and so filmed what happens. This is a daily occurrence with a 10 to 20% chance of it happening at any one time ‘close’ is selected. It happens on any PC, 32 or 64 bit.

The video is on OneDrive and I’ll leave it up for a reasonable time. It shows me having a couple of attempts to close Edge and failing. Finally I resort to task manager.

  • I have also had to kill Edge using Task Manager many times:(
    Not good Edge team, not good at all.
    Time to take it seriously, and start looking at the Reliability History uploads.
    Just because you can’t reproduce it on your systems, doesn’t mean it isn’t common on others.

  • I no longer have this problem with build 14905. With build 14393.82 it still exist. It could be something to do with Flash based content.

  • I see the status has changed to ‘FIXED’ and I can confirm I haven’t had the issue for some time now. Guess it was rolled out in an update somewhere along the line.

  • Sorry, just realized it was duped to a non-public item. Yes this was a known problem and a fix has been rolled out.
