    • I meant to actually link THIS version

      http://jsbin.com/xuvocacavo/edit?html,js,output

Which explains the steps within the code. Note that this bug also affects IE11

    • Microsoft Edge Team

Changed Title from “Sometimes pressing delete in content editable actually adds newlines” to “Sometimes pressing delete in content editable actually adds newlines #EdgeBug”

Changed Assigned To to “Brad E.”

    • Thanks for the feedback on Edge. I am not seeing the same thing as you - can you provide a few more details, please?

The third step isn’t clear as to what I should be seeing. When I compare the behavior I see in MS Edge to what I see in Chrome they seem to be identical.

What are you seeing? And also, what is the version number of your MS Edge build?

      All the best,

    • UPDATE: not adding newlines, but definitely not acting as it should. See updated example

      http://jsbin.com/voxejinoko/edit?html,js,output

      Edge 25.10586.0/.0
      EdgeHTML 13.10586

    • Actually, this issue is still reproducible for me in Edge 25.10586

      http://jsbin.com/xuvocacavo/edit?html,js,output

When delete is pressed, newlines are added instead of content being deleted.

This is a second, probably related issue

      http://jsbin.com/voxejinoko/edit?html,js,output

When newlines are added, they are not subsequently deleted correctly with backspace.

I can open a separate issue for the backspace behaviour, but I imagine they are linked.

    • Well, that might be true - I do not have access to 10586 at the moment to test with. With that being said, the current public stable build for Win 10 / Edge is 14393. We aren’t going to test on anything lower than public stable (currently 14393). If you are still seeing this in anything higher than 14393 please let me know so that we can continue looking into it.

But based on what I’ve seen on the repro in 14393 - it is not repro.  Feel free to open one for the backspace as well. We would be happy to test it out.

      Best regards,
      The MS Edge Team
