Steps to reproduce

Hi,

we have two Windows 10 machines with Edge browser (EdgeHTML 14.14393) installed in VDI for testing. VDI machine does not have internet access.

While we navigate our internally developed web app (which works without issues on any other browser even older versions of IE) the browser suddently hangs.

When debugging in the F12 Developer Tools the error we get in console is:
“XMLHttpRequest: Network Error 0x2efd, Could not complete the operation due to error 00002efd.”

In Event Viewer we see the following Application error been logged:

Faulting application name: microsoftedgecp.exe, version: 11.0.14393.0, time stamp: 0x578997ee
Faulting module name: edgehtml.dll, version: 11.0.14393.103, time stamp: 0x57b7e90f
Exception code: 0xc0000602

Report Id: 158b92d6-0db9-40ba-8848-db462ff3c261

Other details:
Settings that we tried but did no difference:
Internet Options:
we tried adding web server IP in intranet and trusted sites
Protected Mode is Off for intranet and trusted sites.
SmartScreen filter and Window Firewall are disabled.
We use xFrame-Options “sameorigin” and X-UA-Compatible" value="IE=edge"

Tested with Fiddler all Ajax request/response are ok.

Looking forward for your feedback,

Andreas

    • Can you attach the Fiddler trace that you performed please? This will allow us to look into this in greater detail.

    • Hi,

my company policy does not allow me to send such information out.

however… I took a memory dump of the crush and the outcome is:

looks like the js call causing the issue is the following:
      parent.location.href = parent.location.href;

      Changed Status to “Confirmed”

    • Hi Jeff W.

it’s been a few months I opened this and was confirmed but still there is no update on it.
Can you please give some kind of feedback?

      Much appreciated and thank you,

      Andreas

Changed Status from “Confirmed” to “Fixed”

    • Thanks for reporting this!  We’ve resolved an issue that was generating crash stacks much like the one you’ve reported here, and hope to have the fix delivered in an upcoming Windows Insider flight.  While it may not make it into the next flight, it should be in the one afterwards.  If you don’t see your issue resolved after that, we’ll need more information from you to resolve this (like a crash dump, and/or steps we can take to reproduce the exact issue).  Thanks!

    • Hi Jeff,

thank you very much for the feedback.
What “Windows Insider flight” means though? Should we expect this fix to be delivered with Windows Updates for example or is it something I need to track separately?

      Thank you,

      Andreas

    • Oops, sorry for missing your message!  The fix will be in an Windows Insider test build, which is available through the Windows Insider program (https://insider.windows.com/).  It will also be included in the Windows 10 Creators Update (
      https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/upcoming-features).
