Microsoft Edge Failes to Launch With Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Running

Steps to reproduce

This issue was introduced in Build 15936 and is still present in Build 14942. Numerous reports in Feedback Hub, including the one I submitted today referencing an earlier report: feedback-hub:?contextid=343&feedbackid=61002035-5f11-4c61-b424-f865bac3068b&form=1&src=2

  1. Click the Edge icon in the task bar and it begins to launch with the blue background and Edge icon displayed and immediately closes.
  2. Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit displays the notification “Microsoft Edge (and add-ons) is now protected by Malarebytes Anti-Exploit Free” – except that Edge has already closed.

  • Typo in first sentence! Should read, "This issue was introduced in Build 14936".

  • Issue continues in Build 14946.

    I repeated the steps to uninstall Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (MBAE), delete the Program Data folder, restart. Edge then launched and I downloaded/reinstalled MBAE. Closed Edge, but unfortunately, with MBAE running, only the splash screen started before Edge closed. Checking Event Viewer, the errors remain the same as originally reported.

  • This issue was resolved. Malwarebytes Customer Supported provided advance copy of MBAE version 1.09.1 and Microsoft Edge now launches! (Thanks to all who responded https://twitter.com/SecurityGarden/status/787059127503708160.)
