Steps to reproduce

 WWAHost.exe!WebRuntimeCoreControl::ShowCustomSelectionUI Line 1833 C++
  WWAHost.exe!WebInstanceRuntimeCoreAdapter::ShowCustomSelectionUI Line 1406 C++
  mshtml.dll!CWebPlatformTridentHost::ShowCustomSelectionUI Line 5509 C++
  mshtml.dll!CDoc::ShowCustomSelectionUI Line 1321 C++

My web app (Windows Phone 8.1, JavaScript project) which was previously deployed to Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 Mobile crashes on version 10.0.14393.321. If you try to open a drop-down menu (plain select element), the app immediately crashes. This works on Windows Phone 8.1 and earlier builds of Windows 10 Mobile.

  1. Deploy the app attached.
  2. Tap the drop-down menu/select element.
  3. The app crashes.

When enabling native debugging, I get the following unhandled exception: Exception thrown at 0x00A374D9 in WWAHost.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000.

Comments and activity

  • The external code in the stack trace are mostly calls to mshtml.dll, as this is a WinPhone 8.1 app which is rendered by the Trident engine.

  • Do we know when this fix is going to be deployed into a build of Windows?

    As of production build 14393.693 and Insider Fast Ring build 15025.1001, this issue is still occurring.

  • Same question than Andrew. I would like to know when the fix will be deployed. This is a blocker for us.

  • We have an app in production on the store which as the exact same problem ! Please tell us when this issue will be fixed, this is critical for us !

    Thanks in advance

  • Can confirm this is still an issue as of March 24th 2017, OS build 10.0.14393.953

    Any news of when a fix will be shipped from Microsoft? This is still causing us issues with our production apps.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for providing this information about the issue. We are pleased to report this feature is fixed in Edge 15063 and is available in our latest Insider Preview build.

    Best Wishes,
    The MS Edge Team

  • I can tell you that this issue still isn’t fixed.

    If I take the sample app that’s attached to this issue (which is a Windows Phone 8.1 RT app), build it and deploy it to a Windows 10 Mobile device, running 15063.297, if you open the dropdown in that app and wait between 5 to 25 seconds (depending on device), the app will still crash.

    I demoed this still happening to people on the Microsoft Edge team at the Microsoft Edge stand in The Hub at Build 2017.
