Steps to reproduce

  1. Unpack the attached ZIP file and load it into Edge as an extension.
  2. An extension page will open in a new tab immediately, with a link pointing to a blob: URL and download attribute to force a download.
  3. Click the blob link.
  4. Accept saving the file.

Expected results

The file is saved, which is what happens when that page is served over HTTP.

Actual results

Nothing happens, no matter what button you press. Not even Cancel works, you have to click the cross symbol in order to dismiss the download prompt. Shutting down Edge warns about ongoing downloads.

  • It’s the same issue when using window.navigator.msSaveBlob(). Downloading blob contents via XMLHttpRequest on the other hand works correctly.
