Steps to reproduce

RicoM url: http://www.newegg.com/Desktop-Computers/SubCategory/ID-10?Tid=19096&PageSize=96

Repros for me:

  1. newegg.com

  2. All products - Computer Systems - Desktop computers - desktop computers

  3. View - 96

  4. try scroll

expect: scroll

actual: no scroll, and over a minute of i7 CPU time consumed

When I scroll in Microsoft Edge, sometimes the whole bar freezes- I’m unable to scroll by either:

  • clicking on the arrows at either end
  • clicking and dragging the scroll bar up and down
  • using the arrows on my computer to scroll up or down
  • using two fingers on the touchpad to scroll
(This is happening on a new laptop- the HP Pavillion Au 077sa 15" laptop if that helps)
Refreshing the web page results in some success but sometimes refreshing just jumps back to the point on the page where the scroll got stuck, and stays stuck again
    Please help!

  • Can you provide any particular sites that this happens on? We want to see if we can repro this in our test environments.

    All the best,
    The MS Edge Team

  • It happens to me on Newegg.com or Newegg.ca . To make it happen I just have to go to a page with long list of items and start dragging the scroll bar from the top to the bottom. My mouse is an old Microsoft optical mouse.

  • I am having the same exact issue. Also on an HP Laptop. Frequently occurs to me on Alltheflavors.com, as well as a number of other sites.

  • Can either of you (hopefully both) please attach a dxdiag file so we can get the specific hardware details? I tried a few builds yesterday and cannot repro with a Lenovo T460.

  • dxdiag attached. Also experiencing issue on YouTube, if that helps.

  • For me, alltheflavors.com and youtube are OK. I rechecked newegg.com and it still has the issue. The mouse moves fine. When I click the little up arrow, down arrow and scroll bar, they flash nicely but don’t do anything. I refresh the page and can try again but get stuck after a few scroll attempts again.

Don’t know how to attach my Dxdiag so I will paste the first part of it below:

  • Cannot make this happen in a recent build.  We did have a clear repro previously but many things changed in terms of scroll bar handling around build number 14993.  I think this is actually fixed but since I cannot confirm an exact fix I’m going to go with no-repro.

Please reactivate it if you see this again.

    All the best,
    The MS Edge Team

  • This is still an issue. I’m seeing it on youtube a little. Also very frequently when viewing the descriptions of parts on newegg.com. I have the latest windows updates. “razer synapse” is running for my mouse and keyboard. This may be a conflict factor worth looking in to.

  • I noticed this occurs on a number of sites when you click on a null area of a page, and objects highlight as blue. Whether I turn off the highlight, or not, it is at THAT point that returning to the scroll bar renders it unusable.

  • I also suffer this on some webpages, the vertical scrollbar becomes unresponsive after first allowing very minimal movement. The only way to fix it is to close the tab and open a new one. The last time it happened I was on http://www.bbc.com/news/live/business-38691542

  • Just tried accessing the website page mentioned in the original post and I experienced the same issue. Seems to occur mainly on pages that rely on content that automatically loads as you scroll down?

  • Me too! On Facebook and Wikipedia f.e.
When I press Ctrl+ and then Ctrl- I can scroll again.

  • Thank Marjon W. For the Ctrl + / -. Trick ! : )

Scroll never stop to freeze on Newegg.ca site, it’s PITA. (And a lot of other site)

Microsoft really need to fix it ! I am back to Chrome and Firefox. I give a chance to Edge but, i waiting and waiting. PLZ Microsoft fit it.

    :)
