Test EdgeHTML with Remote

The Remote client app is a small utility program that allows you to access Microsoft apps from the cloud. When you launch Internet Explorer from the Remote client app, a real preview version of the browser opens into a new window on your operating system, much like any other app you might have running. This version of Internet Explorer is modified to host the latest preview version of the EdgeHTML rendering engine, so you can test how your site will render in Microsoft Edge.

Remote app clients are a great solution if Microsoft browsers are not available for your operating system, or if you'd like to test the preview version of the browser without installing it directly on your machine.

Remote is available for Windows, Mac OSX, iOS, and Android.

If you have not already registered for remote access to Microsoft Edge, sign up now with your Microsoft account.

  1. Download and install the Remote client for your device

    Get downloads
  2. From the Remote client, launch Azure RemoteApp and sign in

Make sure to use the same Microsoft Account you used when signing up for Remote IE.

  3. Launch Internet Explorer from your list of Remote Apps

You will receive an email once your account has been provisioned and ready to be used. If you don’t see IE Technical Preview in the list of apps, wait a few seconds and then click in the "App invitations" button until you see one coming from Internet Explorer.

  4. Enter a URL and test!

You can now test your site with a remote version of Internet Explorer on your device just like a local app! Note that you cannot change the remote browser's settings.
