Introducing Build Skills, the new Microsoft Reactor series to help you learn valuable tech skills and discover new career paths. This series of livestream workshops (and available on-demand after) covers foundational skills in coding, data science, web development, devops, and so much more. Taught by Microsoft engineers, students, and community leaders, this is the place to learn by doing, follow at your own pace in a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and get your questions answered. Join us today and get the skills you need today for the job roles of tomorrow!

Say you want to perform some analysis on a dataset that you find interesting -- like the squirrel population of Central Park (https://www.thesquirrelcensus.com), or various types of French cheese (https://www.kaggle.com/mathurinache/french-cheese-detection). The first thing you'll need to do with any dataset is to clean it up. Many datasets have missing information or won't be formatted in the exact way you'd like.
In this livestreamed workshop, you will learn how to use Jupyter Notebooks with the NumPy and Pandas libraries in Python. Then you’ll prepare your data for analysis and visualization with DataFrames and Matplotlib. Come join Justin and let’s learn together!

Who is it aimed at?

  • Beginners to Python and Data Science. Some familiarity with programming recommended.
  • Students or learning professionals interested in how to use Jupyter Notebooks to run Python for data science projects.
  • Student Ambassadors whom would like to share this workshop with their peers!
