Crack code interview problems in Rust - Ep. 2

19 janvier, 2023 | 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM (UTC) Temps universel coordonné

  • Format:
  • alt##LivestreamStream en direct

Thème: Codage, langages et infrastructures

Langage: À l’aide de la langue anglaise

Episode 2 -
Come watch ‘experts’ try (and possibly fail) to solve coding challenges in Rust!

Interviews for coders often come with a coding challenge, using platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank. These challenges ask you to solve coding problems in a language of your choice, to show what algorithms and data structures you know, and highlight how you solve problems. Love them or hate them, being able to solve these kinds of challenges is becoming a part of interviewing for your next job.

In this series, Jim is joined by Nell Shamrell-Harrington, a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft and a member of the Rust board of directors. Our intrepid experts will try their hand at a range of coding challenges in Rust, a powerful systems programming language that is rising in popularity, and has been rated as the most loved programming language for the past 7 years in the StackOverflow survey. Jim is new to Rust, so will be learning a load of tips and techniques as he pairs with Nell to solve these challenges.

As always, this will be an interactive live stream, so bring your Rust questions, and be ready to join in and help our presenters if needed!

Speakers:
Jim Bennett, Regional Cloud Advocate, Microsoft
Jim is a Regional Cloud Advocate focusing on building out and skilling communities in the Pacific North West, with a focus on the Microsoft Reactor in Redmond, Washington. He’s British, so sounds way smarter than he actually is, and is happy he moved to Redmond in time to be locked down at home and not see the office he came to work in, or the places he wanted to visit. In the past he’s lived in 4 continents working as a developer in the mobile, desktop, and scientific space. He's spoken at conferences and events all around the globe, organized meetup groups and communities, and written a book on mobile development.

He also hates and is allergic to cats, but has a 9-year-old daughter who loves cats, so he has 2 cats.

Nell Shamrell-Harrington, Principal Software Engineer, Microsoft
Nell Shamrell-Harrington is a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft in the Azure Office of the CTO. She is the lead editor of This Week in Rust and a member of the Rust Foundation Board of Directors. Additionally, she is a long-time Open Source contributor and maintainer. Outside of work, she enjoys raising pet bunnies!
