What is the session about?
Often we would like to quickly classify text into various categories. Here is where, Text classification, which is a supervised learning method of learning and predicting the category or the class of a document given its text content, can come in handy. In this session, we will introduce the audience to NLP (Natural Language Processing), some of the common use cases, and then dive into classifying text in English/Hindi.
Who is it aimed at?
People should attend this session if they are interested in any of the following topics:
• Would like to understand NLP and it’s uses.
• What is Text classification? What can it be used for?
• What is transfer learning in NLP?
• What is a BERT model and how can it be used for Text classification?
• Pointers to APIs and custom code for future reference.
Why should you attend?
This session aims at introducing the audience to the topic of Natural Language processing, Text classification, Transfer Learning, BERT models. The talk will include tips on how to get started with annotation of raw data and how to build Text classification models using BERT.
Speaker Bio:
Jaya Mathew is a Senior data scientist at Microsoft where she is part of the Azure Global AI team. Her work focuses on the deployment of AI and ML solutions to solve real business problems for customers in multiple domains. Prior to joining Microsoft, she has worked with Nokia and Hewlett-Packard on various analytics and machine learning use cases. She holds an undergraduate as well as a graduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Mathematics and Statistics respectively.
