Blockchain is not dead. Actually, quite the contrary is happening in the past year. There are more and more interest and it's gaining a lot more traction than before. A big portion of this growth is due to "DeFi" AKA Decentralised Finance applications. From the hyped cryptocurrencies, we are now seeing the new next wave of this transformation as we see more financial productions being developed: lending, exchanges, yield farming, and pools just to name a few. This talk will give you an overview of what DeFi is and how it is an evolution of traditional FIAT and cryptocurrencies. In this talk, we will be using Ethereum as a platform of choice to demonstrate some of the core concepts and tools to get started with your DeFi journey.

Your Speaker
Michael John Peña is a technologist and an early adopter of Blockchain technologies. He is a Microsoft MVP and the co-author of "Cloud Analytics with Microsoft Azure." He currently works as a Director of his own consulting company "Datachain", tackling some of the most complex problems in modern software and crypto projects. On his free time, he gets involve with the tech community and enjoy quality time with his family.
