In the early days of Blockchain DApp (Decentralised App) development, most tools were targeted towards MacOS and Linux. Most of the scripts (like bash scripts) and complex networking infrastructure were targeting a Unix environment. Although there have been a lot of improvements now in the ecosystem, Linux is still the preferred environment to use for development.

But what's interesting now is that Windows 10 comes with WSL2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux version 2) that actually allows you to work with Linux without having to start / stop a VM. This flexibility allows you to still use Windows 10 as your primary OS and connect to a Linux instance, just like doing a remote “ssh session.” There are many reasons on why you would still want to use Windows as your primary OS.

This talk will show why use WSL2 for Blockchain DApp development and how to get started. We will cover various tools and connectivity principles such as Docker, VSCode, npm, RPC & port forwarding, that will allow you to be productive in both Windows and WSL2 environments.

He currently works as a director of his own consulting company "Datachain", tackling some of the most complex problems in modern software and crypto projects. He is also an advisor to some startups, such as "Lumachain", in bringing cutting edge technologies like AI, Blockchain, and Edge devices to provide business values to customers. On his free time, he gets involve with the tech community and enjoy quality time with his family.
