Collaboration in software development has solidly moved into the realm of open-source partnerships. From operating systems like Linux to container orchestration environments like Kubernetes, open source enables the industry to collaborate quickly and efficiently to establish standards through working software in an ‘implementation first’ way.
As the automotive world moves to a software-defined future, a group of folks got together to see how the proven success of industry collaboration using open source in the general software industry could be applied to the automotive industry. In the session I’ll share the outcome of another project I have the pleasure to be part of in the establishment of a working group focused on the software-defined vehicle evolution as part of the Eclipse Foundation. Combining forces of industry leaders with the power of open-source development collaboration will enable the agile and quick evolution of in-vehicle software standards via upstream community implementations of key aspects of the future in-vehicle architecture.
