The Reactor Community Spotlight is a snack-sized show, designed to meet, greet and explore communities and their leaders from Europe and the Middle East. Each week we’ll zone in on a different Reactor from, bringing together London, Stockholm, Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi. We’ll meet the speakers for upcoming event series and hear what drives leaders from around the world to build and grow technical communities and discover new opportunities to learn and connect.

Speaker: Speaker: Zaid Zaim - Microsoft MVP
Zaid is from Syria. He came to Germany eight years ago due to the war in his country. In 2017 he joined redi-school.org an NGO that supports refugees and newcomers to get quality tech skills to join the tech industry. In 2019 Zaid started a Mixed Reality and HoloLens project for cultural heritage preservation. Volunteers from Microsoft supported him realizing his idea. The project combines cultural heritage with modern Mixed Reality HoloLens 2 technology and demonstrates as an example the virtual reconstruction and preservation of the destroyed ancient Palmyra (UNESCO site in Syria) in the hope that people are interested in the culture and peaceful coexistence to motivate them for new Technologies and to invite for future construction.
