🔗 What is the session about?
This event is part of a series of #12 workshops developed for female entrepreneurs under the scope of the partnership between Microsoft and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, to foster female entrepreneurship and opportunities for forcibly displaced populations in the tech sector in Brazil. The purpose of the sessions, to be held from March to October 2021, is to share content for the improvement of the business model and the expansion of the startups' future fundraising opportunities. Workshop #4: The state of VC ecosystem in Latam and Brazil
This workshop will focus on the analysis of the Investing trends and sectors which are getting most attention in Latin America and, particularly, in Brazil. It will also bring an overview of where the VC dollars are going, the gaps in the funding environment and the expectations for the future.

💬 Speakers

• Alexandre Darzé
  Experienced Financial Market/Venture Capital professional with leadership exposure on the advisory and investment streams. Skilled in Investment Analysis (banks, credit funds, Fintechs), Business Planning, Risk Management, Business Development. Experiences in Latin America and Africa. Masters focused in Finance/Capital Markets from COPPEAD/UFRJ.

• Stevon S. Darling
  Investor with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), where he focuses on the organization’s early-stage equity investment strategy across Latin America. Within IFC’s Disruptive Technologies and Venture Investing team, Stevon leads transactions across many technology sectors including logistics/mobility, education, health, agriculture, enterprise, and B2B SaaS. Stevon also focuses on investing in leading venture funds in the region. Prior to joining the IFC, Stevon was an investment banker with Goldman Sachs where he advised global industrial clients on financing and M&A transactions. Originally from the Bahamas, Stevon holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Accounting from Morehouse College where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He is a fund advisory committee member and board director/observer of several IFC portfolio companies.
