In this three part series we are joined by industry experts Kevin & Garry to get an insight into what it is all about. We will be covering different Open Source projects with the speakers providing a unique perspective on their journey and some of the projects they work on and how you can also join in the fun.

What is the session about?
Part 1/3 - This session is designed to help anyone understand what open source is, dispel some myths, help you understand how you can use it and the benefits of getting more involved yourself. Garry and Kevin will share their experiences as a contributor and maintainer on projects, explaining what that means and telling a few tales along the way.

Who is it aimed at?
Anyone who wants an introduction to what Open Source is, whether they are developers of any skill level or want to learn more through hands-on experience.

Speaker Bio’s

Kevin McDonnell: Practice Lead – Modern Workplace, CPS

Awarded MVP for Office Apps and Services with a special interest in Microsoft Viva, Microsoft Search, Powershell and SharePoint. Kevin has worked with SharePoint on both sides of the fence for over 15 years, starting out on the client-side in Financial Services before moving to the consultancy side in recent years. He has experience across all levels from implementing farms to being a project manager, developing specific solutions as a developer and running farms with engagement across large organisations.

Garry Trinder- Modern Work Consultant, Microsoft

Garry is an Open Source maintainer of PnP CLI for Microsoft 365 since 2019. He was also a former Microsoft MVP.
