Presentation #1 - Adopting AI Powered Developer Tools
The hype around around AI developer tools is immense. It seems like new ones are popping up daily but how do you know which to use? and how can you quantify the impact of these tools on your development team? We had all of these questions and more when looking at adopting GitHub Copilot. We'll walk through how you can design experiments to cut through the hype and unearth the real impact new development tools can have on your team. We'll talk about how to run data driven experiments with your dev teams that ensure you are making impactful and cost effective choices. Finally we'll delve into the results of our experiments with AI assisted coding and what you should consider when adopting these tools.
Presentation #2 - Building an AI Powered Engineering Blog
Technical writing is hard! 7shifts has always had a strong culture of internal knowledge sharing. When we attempted to start sharing some of that knowledge externally through our Engineering blog it was unexpectedly difficult. Over the last months we've been experimenting with AI to help us solve this problem. This talk will discuss how leveraging ChatGPT has made it easier for developers at 7shifts to transition into technical writing. We'll explore the journey from internal dev talks to polished blogs ready for our public R&D platform. You'll learn how to leverage AI tools to help your team's ideas reach a wider audience.

A word from the Organizer - GTA PHP User Group
It has been many years since the True North PHP Conference was held at Microsoft Canada's Mississauga campus. By my estimation, that was 7 years ago.
I am thrilled that our January meet-up will be at the Microsoft Reactor Toronto located in Microsoft Canada's headquarters.
We are fortunate that 7shifts is presenting not one, but two talks, about their experience with GitHub's Copilot.
This is a unique opportunity to visit Microsoft Canada with your fellow PHP developers, and to hear about specific PHP experiences by a major local PHP shop with GHCP.
CIBC Square is at the nexus of Toronto's public transit. As part of the PATH, you do not have to step outside from Union Station. And, the GO Bus Terminal is physically in the same building.
So, circle this date. I look forward to seeing you!
