GitHub for modern developers

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (UTC)

What is this session about? We'll kick of the series with a session for developers. We'll look at how we manage code in GitHub - for ourselves as well as when we are working together. This means looking into features such as creating repositories to store our content, editing files, searching but also as pull requests and branch policies. Next we'll introduce Codespaces, GitHub's cloud-based development environments, and look at how Codespaces makes it easy to get a new environment up and running in seconds! Lastly we'll peak into the future of development by looking at how GitHub CoPilot gives us AI assistance when writing code. Why should you attend? If you're new to developing with GitHub, or development in general, you will learn the core version control practices you typically need for modern development. Experienced developers will get an update on the latest practices as well as an introduction to some new cool features

The Power of GitHub Actions

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (UTC)

What is this session about? GitHub Actions is currently the #1 CI/CD platform in the world. But what is GitHub Actions and what can it do? In this session we'll show how to do continuous integration and deployment using Actions. We'll look at building, testing, linting and packaging an application. We'll then set up a release process to manage a multi-stage deployment where deployment credentials are securely managed and environment specific variables are applied at deployment time. But CI/CD is not all Actions can be used for. We'll finish this session by automating some common tasks for the development teams, such as providing self-service Why should you attend? Learn how to fully automate your build and deploy pipelines.
