Microsoft Reactor is excited to partner with Upwardly Global to build more career pathways for job seekers from around the world. This cohort is all about helping immigrants to gain skills to help them find a role in tech. During these 4 months we will have monthly sessions dedicated to this purpose. Each session will last 1 hour. We will have topics covering the current state of technology, what do recruiters look for in a resume and LinkedIn profiles, what does a hiring manager look for in an interview and will conclude it with a networking event. If you want to improve your job skills, join us, learn something new and create new connections and friendships.

Kick-Off: Meet the Cohort

Our first session will focus on empowering immigrants by connecting them to the people and resources that will enable them to build successful lives. Our cohort will introduce themselves and their goals on what they want to achieve from these sessions. Meet with our host: Jim Bennett is a Regional Cloud Advocate focusing on building out and skilling communities in the Pacific North West, with a focus on the Microsoft Reactor in Redmond, Washington, as well as a passion for the internet of things. He’s British, so sounds way smarter than he actually is, and is happy he moved to Redmond in time to be locked down at home and not see the office he came to work in, or the places he wanted to visit. In the past he’s lived in 4 continents working as a developer in the mobile, desktop, and scientific space. He's spoken at conferences and events all around the globe, organised meetup groups and communities, and written a book on mobile development.He also hates and is allergic to cats, but has a 10-year-old daughter who loves cats, so he has 2 cats.
