The secure, open platform for AI and agents
Native support for Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent workspace supercharges agentic experiences on Windows.
Agent connectors and Windows on-device registry (ODR)
MCP on Windows provides a standardized framework for AI agents to connect with apps and tools to automate routine scenarios. Agent connectors are essentially MCP servers, these power agents with unique skills to complete tasks. Developers can build MCP servers to expose their app’s functionality as agent connectors and register in a secure, manageable Windows on-device registry By default, all agent connectors in Windows on-device registry will be contained in a secure environment with their own identity and audit trail. This infrastructure will be available in a public developer preview in the coming weeks.
Agent workspace
An isolated, policy-controlled, and auditable environment where agents can interact with software much like humans do - performing tasks for the user in a parallel and separate desktop, without disrupting users’ primary session. This infrastructure is available in private preview.
Agent ID
Windows enforces unique agent identities with strict guardrails, ensuring every action is auditable and distinct from user activity. This transparency makes agentic workflows more secure and contained than traditional apps.
